Ever since coming back from our (fabulous, wonderful, refreshing) vacation to Destin, we have been working hard on adoption stuff. We talked about bringing our child to Destin soon the whole vacation long!
Our official, approved home study was in the mail when we got back home. So, that meant that over the course of the next two weeks, we worked frantically to finish up paperwork for the dossier. We got things notarized, stopped by the police department, and frequented FedEx. We mailed off the approved home study with the other needed paperwork for our I800-A. After receiving new birth certificates (again because ours has to be less than 6 months from being issued or something), we had it all. We mailed the original and three copies of ALL of our remaining dossier paperwork to our adoption agency. And now the waiting begins again.
Every step we are getting closer to holding our baby in our arms, and the last two weeks have held tons of steps! Yay!
This weekend we are having a garage sale to benefit adoption expenses. For those of you who do not know, adopting from China is the same expense as adopting a newborn domestically. I pray that in the future, expenses will lessen. However, because of all of the red tape and the people who work so diligently at our adoption agency and beyond to get things done, it makes sense. It just breaks my heart that so many children pray every day for family and just want to be wanted. Sometimes it is the paperwork that prevents people from adopting, and sometimes it is the cost. Either way, that is not cool, and my prayer is that adoption will become a little bit more accessible to families everywhere. Fostering to adopt is one way that is already happening. :)

I'm so excited to hear about your journey adopting a child from China. I have wanted to adopt internationally since I was in high school and especially after volunteering in an orphanage in Romania. So exciting!!
